At the heart of a solar photovoltaic system is the inverter. Selecting the right inverter is essential to the efficiency and lifetime of the system.

Every system we install has been designed to provide optimal performance. Our off the shelf kits are refined and tailored to the exact requirements once we have conducted a site survey.

Mastervolt Soladin - for small systems

Mastervolt is a pioneer in the field of solar energy and worldwide there are more than 100,000 Mastervolt solar inverters installed.

The Soladin 600 provides a low cost inverter for small systems with just 3 panels. A clear LED indication gives information about the energy produced, the status of the system, and the Soladin converter. The Soladin 600 has a wide working area and this makes it possible to connect almost all systems up to 600 Wp. With a voltage frame of 45 to 125 V DC, configurations of 36, 54 as well as 72 cells can be connected to it. The current range from 0 to 8 A making the Soladin 600 suitable for the latest high power panels.

Nedap PowerRouter - Future Proof

With the PowerRouter, Nedap have succeeded in providing an all-in-one future proofed inverter that is able to store your surplus power in a battery bank for later use in the evening.

power router

Several versions of the PowerRouter exist to provide back-up power for self-use or emergency supply during power cuts. Most popular is the battery back-up for self-use which is designed to provide several hours of power during the evening, from surplus energy generated during daylight. This will increase savings as less power will need to be imported from the grid, making you more self-reliant.

What is the inverter and what does it do?

The inverter converts the power from your panels into power you use around the home or work. Solar panels produce direct current (DC) at varying levels, which must be transformed into alternating current (AC) that matches the supply from the grid. The inverter, which is usually located in the loft or garage, does this automatically as soon as the panels begin generating in the morning.

Inverters, by their nature, succumb to wear and tear over time and are expected to last between 8 and 15 years. All have a minimum warranty of 5 years, so units that fail prematurely are replaced free of charge. Enphase micro-inverters offer an exceptional 20 year warranty.

Inverters have two main types: inverters with a transformer and transformerless inverters. Transformerless types are often slightly more efficient, though high frequency transformers acheive comparable efficiencies. We usually choose the inverter that will be best suited for that particular installation. Other factors, such as the location of the inverter or the earthing arrangements of the electrical mains supply must be considered.
